CBD Suppositories

Suppositories are small round or cone-shaped medications designed to be inserted into the vagina, anus, or urethra. Once inside, the medication melts or dissolves and is absorbed by the body. CBD suppositories are suppositories that list CBD as an ingredient. An abbreviation for cannabidiol, CBD is a nonintoxicating compound in the cannabis plant that reps a range of benefits.

Suppositories deliver CBD directly to the localized source of pain and can be useful for ailments such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s Disease, hemorrhoids, inflammation, or tumors in the rectal cavity. Many people also find relief from painful menstrual cramps with suppositories. Direct insertion of CBD allows for quick absorption and faster relief. CBD suppositories are also ideal for those who cannot, or will not, take oral medication.

Rectal and vaginal suppositories have both been used to deliver medicine to patients for decades. The pelvic region houses a matrix of nerves that travel to the legs and up the spine, and the colon contains cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2).

One of the main health issues that suppositories should be considered for is endometriosis. Fairly common, affecting 1 in 10 women, endometriosis is a disease in which tissue that is similar to the lining of the uterus grows in other places in a woman’s body. And for many who suffer from it, the pain can be excruciating.

Generally, cannabis suppositories are made by combining cannabis-infused oils in a carrier oil that hardens at low temperatures. The rectum also contains a number of key veins that deliver blood to the entire body.
